As you walk into our school, the first thing that strikes you is our beautiful oak tree – we often use this tree to show the children how from the smallest of starting points (the acorns) anything can grow to be as tall and mighty as the oak tree. It is a focal point for the school and is used for our annual carols around the tree at Christmas time.

Walking into the building, you will first notice our library space. We have had a local artist, Rory McCann, come into school to create vibrant murals in both our library space and down our corridor. Characters from books adorn the walls and the well stocked library has a wealth of stories containing these, and many more characters for the children to enjoy.
Our school site is made up of two schools historically. These two schools have been joined together to form the Mereside we love today. The mains buildings are joined by a corridor where the children can see paintings of the animals their classes are named after. Linking with the natural world and local area, our classes are named after the animals that could make their home in the lakeside habitat of the Mere. We use this local feature to support our PSHE curriculum too, ensuring children are taught the importance of being careful around water, and how to keep themselves safe in water.
Our children are very lucky in terms of space in school, all the classrooms are light and airy, with access directly outside. We have 2 halls, enabling plenty of space for PE lessons, worship and lunchtimes. Our EYFS has a substantial outdoor space for children to make the most of the continuous provision which wraps around both EYFS classes to enable children to mix with the other class too. At playtimes, children can make the most of our 2 playground spaces, one for EYFS and key stage 1, and one for key stage 2. These are further complimented by playground equipment, trim trails and large fields.
Our school is well equipped with a range of resources for all children, including forest school areas for both key stages.
We would welcome the opportunity to show you around our school, please contact the office for further information and to book an appointment.
