A HUGE well done to our U11 Boys who were runners up in the EFL Cup on Friday 7th November, held at the Shrewsbury Town FC on the 3G pitches.
The tournament saw 13 teams taking part, where the teams were split into 2 groups. Mereside won 5 out of the 6 group matches, losing 1 and only conceding twice, yet scoring 18 goals in total – the most out of all the teams!! Finishing second in the group, with the top 2 going through to the semi-finals, the boys played brilliantly and won 2-1 to take them through to the final. In the final, they went ahead, but sadly couldn’t hang on and with two quick-fire goals, ended up losing 2-1.
Mr Hignett and Mr Cookson were incredibly proud of their performance, as individuals and as a team!
