Harvest Time

Just a reminder that we are now accepting donations, in celebration of Harvest Time, for Barnabas Food Bank. This is a food bank which serves our local community, here in Shrewsbury. Donations can be brought into school and given to the class teachers, or taken directly to the office. Many thanks for your ongoing support and generosity.

Congratulations!

.          Meet our Squirrels class reps for 2026!

A huge congratulations to Poppy and Sophia on being elected to represent Squirrels class this year. Poppy will be our Worship Leader, and Sophia will be our school council representative. We are very proud to have them represent our class and know they will be amazing in their roles.

The Great Storm!

During our English work today, we learnt about adjectives. We watched a clip of a stormy boat ride and then came up with some adjectives to describe how the passengers would feel. We related this to our focus text for this half term, ‘Lost and Found’ by Oliver Jeffers by considering how the penguin and the boy felt on their journey back to the South Pole. We then completed a sorting activity and had to decide which words we could use the journey, and which wouldn’t work.We all worked well as a group and really enjoyed this activity.

Fruit tasting

As part of our science work, we learnt about different tastes. We tasted different foods and categorized them into sour, salty, bitter, sweet and savoury. We had a great time and enjoyed tasting different things.

Greater than, less than and equal to.

In maths, we have been learning how to compare amounts using greater than, less than and equal to. We made different amounts and compared them using the symbols.

Our fun trip to the beach.

Last week, our lovely year ones were finally able to go on their trip to the Love2Stay beach! After being postponed due to the heat wave in the Summer, they certainly made the most of their time there. They were able to paddle in the water, play in the sand and have a go on all of the amazing play equipment. The sun even came out for us!

Our first week in Year 1.

Children have made an amazing start to year 1 this week – they have been practising how to write their numbers and counting in rote. They also had lots of fun taking part in some drama based on our English text, ‘Lost and Found’. It’s been a busy week but all of the children have settled really well. Well done everyone!
