Throughout Autumn 2 we were learning about Extreme Weather in our Geography lessons – how different weathers are formed, the impact they have and where in the world they occur. We have also been learning about Electricity in Science including how to make series circuits, the components needed to make a complete circuit, what a non-complete circuit is and the effect the components have on the circuit.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas!!

Sparrowhawks Autumn Term DT – Celebrating Seasonality and Culture

In DT this term, we have been learning about bread. We looked at the history of bread and the many varieties  bread can come in. We then taste tested different types/flavours of breads which was a sensory evaluation allowing us to judge quality, preference, or identify different combinations. In conclusion from this, we designed our final outcome which included our preferred flavours and design of bread. During the making of the bread, we used many skills, including measuring of the ingredients and kneading of the dough. We allowed the bread to rise in heat (proving) before baking it in the oven. Once baked, we then did an evaluation of the bread which included rating it out of 5 for appearance, taste and purpose.

DT – Bread Making

This half term, in DT, we will be looking at and making bread. Over the next few lessons, your child will have the opportunity to take part in tasting different types of bread including seeded, sourdough and milk roll. Please make your class teacher aware of any allergies or if you do not want your child to take part. If we do not hear from you, then we assume your child is able to take part.
