Careers Week Day 1

Wow!
What a start to our careers week with a visit from Julia Buckley this morning giving us all the information on her role and how she got into politics. The children had opportunities to ask what she had to do to become an MP and discussed how being resilient is an important part of the role.

Then to top it off this afternoon, we have been lucky to have Lesley and her greyhound Freya in. Talking to us about careers in caring for dogs and what the job entails. We even got to give Freya a stroke 🦮🌟

Volcano fun!

We had a great time this afternoon in Year 4 watching an eruption from a homemade volcano (shout out to Imy for her wonderful creation)!

We used baking soda and vinegar to create the chemical reaction and the result was loved by all!

Unfortunately, the video is too large to attach, so here is a photo instead.

Jake Evans Story Teller and Artist visit

On Friday 5th December, we had the best time with Jake Evans. Jake did an amazing workshop which we all loved, starting with using the children’s ideas to create scary stories. Giving us some top tips on how to tell amazing stories ourselves with a special focus on understanding what emotions we want our audience to feel. Finally, we got even more creative with our artistic skills by creating images of two animals blended together.

Good afternoon,

We have our first D&T lesson tomorrow where we will be tasting different types of soups. Could you please bring in a small spoon with you tomorrow.

Many thanks

When year 4 met Pudsey!

On Friday 14th November, Mereside came into school wearing casual clothes, raising money for Children in Need. In the afternoon, they had a special visitor…Pudsey Bear! The children were excited to give Pudsey a hug and/or high-five.

Online Safety

This afternoon we have been looking at online safety and what cyberbullying is. During discussions the children have expressed in both year 4 classes that they are on a range of websites that are not age appropriate such as; fortnite, tic tok, facebook, instagram, call of duty etc.

Please can you speak to child/children about what websites they are using and why they have age ratings to reiterate what we have spoken about today.

Any questions please speak to your class teacher.

Many thanks
