Young Voices

We had the most amazing time at Young Voices! This year, we took a choir of children from Years 4-6 AND we also opened the offer to the whole of Year 6 as well! This meant that we had a full choir of 90 pupils attending the concert. Children in choir worked hard after school to learn all the songs and dances while the Year 6 cohort spent their music lessons doing the same! The children represented Mereside brilliantly and it was fantastic to hear everyone singing their hearts out and having the time of their lives!

Shropshire Sings!

We had so much fun representing Mereside at the Shropshire Sings concert held at the West Midlands Showground. We worked really hard in choir practice to learn all the songs and we sang and danced brilliantly on the night! It was an evening to remember!

School Games Mixed Rounders Festival 2026 – WINNERS!

Congratulations to our year 5 and 6s who not only took part in the School Games rounders event on Tuesday 9th June, but they also won the event! As a result, they are now going through to the county stage, representing Shrewsbury – this takes place on Friday 19th June. Good luck!

Volcano fun!

We had a great time this afternoon in Year 4 watching an eruption from a homemade volcano (shout out to Imy for her wonderful creation)!

We used baking soda and vinegar to create the chemical reaction and the result was loved by all!

Unfortunately, the video is too large to attach, so here is a photo instead.

Year 5/6 School Games Indoor Cricket Event – 28.11.25

Well done to our year 6s who took part in the School Games Indoor Cricket event at Shrewsbury Sports Village on Friday 28th November.

They showed the spirit of Mereside throughout, having lots of fun along the way!

World Mental Health Day 2025

Friday 10th October.

Today we have been discuss what mental health is and what might affect our mental health. We spoke about the importance of speaking up and asking for help if we are struggling. We practiced conversation starters so we understand how to talk to someone if we need to.

Thank you to everyone who wore Yellow and either donated or bought from the cake sale.

Stop-Motion Club!

At Stop Motion Club, the pupils have been bringing Lego minifigures to life using a stop motion app on the iPads. Theyโ€™ve learned how to carefully move the figures step by step to create the illusion of movement, experimenting with making their characters walk, wave, dance, run and even jump. The children have been developing their creativity and teamwork skills while having lots of fun seeing their ideas transform into mini animated films.

If this is something you want to try at home, you can use down the Stop Motion App for free and start making your own movies at home. You could even write your own script!
