Hello Yellow- Friday 9th October

Hello Yellow – Friday 9th October

Wear yellow and help us show our support for young people’s mental health.

On Friday 9th October, we’re inviting our whole school community to wear yellow as we take part in Hello Yellow – a day dedicated to raising awareness, starting conversations and supporting young people’s mental health.

Mental health is something that can affect all of us. There are times when life can feel difficult, overwhelming or challenging and it isn’t always easy to know how to cope or who to talk to. For some young people, getting the right support at the right time can feel especially difficult.

Together, we can help change this.

By wearing yellow, you can help start conversations about mental health and remind young people that they are not alone, that it’s okay to talk and that support is available.

Stand out. Start a conversation. Show your support.

Join us on Friday 9th October, wear something yellow!

Together, we can help create a school community where every young person feels heard, supported and valued.

Amazing work from Hares

Hello!

Here are some examples of the amazing work the children have been doing in Hares over the last few weeks 🙂
I wonder if you can guess the words based on the hieroglyphics we drew?

‘Discovering Darwin’

To complement our history topic on Darwin, the children learnt about the life and achievements of Charles Darwin during a taught ‘Discovering Darwin’ session at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery, including a walking tour.
Through the Story Box Ritual, children got to meet a young Charles Darwin who set them a range of challenges. Through practical and engaging activities, the children saw how Darwin’s life was shaped and influenced by his early curiosity and his love of the natural world and science.

Some art work inspired by Giuseppe Arcimboldo

The children made some fantastic pieces inspired by Italian Renaissance artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo is best known for imaginative “composite heads”

On Wednesday 17th June, Years One and Two had a visit from some musicians from the Benedetti Foundation. We learnt about rhythm, vibrations, the tuba and the cello. We also played some great games to practise our rhythm skills.

🌟 Mereside Children Spread Smiles During Dementia Awareness Week 🌟

As part of Dementia Awareness Week, our wonderful Mereside children created beautiful drawings and colourful pictures for the residents of Lime Trees Care Home.

We were delighted to welcome Lisa from Lime Trees Care Home, who visited school to personally thank the children for their thoughtful contributions. She kindly presented us with thank you cards from the residents, which were greatly appreciated by everyone involved.

We are incredibly proud of our children for showing such kindness, creativity and community spirit. ❤️
